About Kamika Ekadashi :
Kamika Ekadashi is a Hindu holy day celebrated on the 11th lunar day (Ekadashi Tithi) of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon phase) in the Hindu Calendar month Ashaad (as per Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada Calendar) or Shraavana (as per North Indian Calendar) which in the Gregorian calendar falls in July or August.
Kamika Ekadashi is a highly auspicious day dedicated to worship of Lord Vishnu to get rid of all sins and problems.
Lord Vishnu himself once said that one who fasts on Kamika Ekadashi attains much more benefits that those obtained by studying all spiritual literature’s.
Kamika Ekadashi Story / Vrat Katha :
According to legends, once upon a time there was a landlord and a Brahman who lived in a village. Once they both had a great fight and in anger landlord killed the Brahman. Landlord soon realized what sin he had committed by killing a Brahman. He wanted to repent for his mistake and hence wished to participate in the cremation rituals of the Brahman, but he was not all lowed to participate in the cremation rituals.
Landlord was not able to bear the sin that he had committed by killing a Brahman. he was feeling very guilty. Once day this landlord came across a great saint and asked him for a solution to get rid of the sin he had committed.
The saint suggested him to observe Kamika Ekadashi vrata and get rid of the sin that he had committed.
The landlord kept the Kamika Ekadashi vrata as suggested by the saint and on that night Lord Vishnu gave him darshan and freed him of all his sins.
Since then people of the region started observing Kamika Ekadashi Vrata.
Kamika Ekadashi Puja Vidhi :
The Puja Vidhi performed during Kamika Ekadashi is similar to that followed during other Ekadashi’s.
On the day of Kamika Ekadashi, devotees worship Lord Vishnu and tulsi leaves are offered to the deity.
Devotees observe a strict fast which is broken on the next day, i.e., on dwadashi day during the parana time. Those who are unable to keep a whole day fast keep a partial fast by consuming fruits and milk and avoid eating rice and other grains for the whole day.

You can chant any one of these Vishnu Mantra and Slokas on this auspicious day of Kamika Ekadashi – Om Namo Bhagavate Vaasudevaaya Mantra, Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram or Vishnu Ashtottaram.
